From the author of this empowerment :
“Spirit dolls are used all over the world for pretty much the same things. Essentially, they serve as surrogates to help focus energy toward a specific chosen individual for healing, empowerment or cursing. Some such dolls are used over and over again, and others are used once and destroyed. However it is done, the only thing I can say is that they work.
Kali Naga Shamanism and Sorcery
The spirit doll on the cover (from the manual) is from the Kali Naga tradition in Tibet and Nepal, and it is used over and over again. It has a sort of dress of cord wrapped around it, and various stones, crystals and herbs are placed upon it to represent various healing or empowering energies for the ill, or to send poisons and curses to enemies. It is also used a focus point to send energy to people for various purposes, and is often used for many people either all at once, or one right after the other. Occasionally, it is used for only one person at a time.
Voodoo Dolls
Just about everyone has seen Voodoo dolls in the movies or in books, but many people don’t know that they are more often used to help people than to hurt them. In many cases they are dressed in colored fabrics and herbs for various forms of healing and empowerment. Pins, needles and rusty nails are used for cursing. However they are used, most people have seen the negative connotations of their use in the movies, but most Voodoo practitioners who have any real training and credibility don’t curse someone for anyone who walks in off the street and pays them. It is done when a real perceived need presents itself as the practitioner has a fair understanding of how karma works just like all of the rest of us do. So, just because you see something in a Hollywood movie or on YouTube then don’t assume it is all true.
Cherokee Medicine
Straw Dolls
In Cherokee Medicine we make dolls out of twisted straw or grasses, and use them for only one person. They are used in much the same way as the Kali Naga and Voodoo use them, and then they are either given to the person they represent, are buried with them, or they are burned to completely release their energy. In the vast majority of cases, straw dolls are used for short- term healing work. More intense workings for long-term issues or curses are done with Mandrake Root.
May Apple/American Mandrake Root
May Apples are in season here, and the groves are only visible for a short time so I will be harvesting some root fast. It’s a great anesthetic for surgery and wounds, and has many other uses as well. But, it can be poisonous. Unlike its European and Mediterranean cousins, the root does not look quite so human, but it works the same way. As with straw dolls, May Apple root is used in the same manner for healing except that it is primarily used for long-term chronic illnesses and mental illness. In some of the Cherokee man-killing rituals we do a secret ritual process and then slash the root which causes the injury to be transmitted to our victims. We tend to only do this when outside forces are attacking our tribe, but it can be done to individuals as well.
Wicca
In England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales similar activities as we do in Cherokee Medicine are done by the Wiccans with Mandrake root except they are far less likely to use it to curse or kill than we are willing to do. However, if pushed then they not hesitate for long. The other thing they use a lot is a candle made to look like a man or a woman, and in a color that fits the task at hand. With this they will often write their intentions in the wax, and add various symbols and sigils to help their magickal purposes. Then they will charge the candle, and will burn it. As it slowly melts the essence of the magic goes forth, and the work is accomplished.
Tong Ren
Tong Ren involves the use of a modern form of spirit doll and a hammer. The following is a pretty good definition of what it is and how it works: Tong Ren Definition Developed by Tom Tam, and an integral part of the Tom Tam Healing System, Tong Ren is a form of energy therapy for restoring health and vitality. Tong Ren is based on the belief that disease is related to interruptions, or blockages, in the body’s natural flow of chi, neural bioelectricity, blood, or hormones. Blockages are very commonly found physically, rather than energetically, commonly along the spine inhibiting the natural circulation of the body’s central nervous system. Tong Ren Therapy utilizes the concept of the collective unconsciousness to remove these blockages, restoring the body’s natural ability to heal itself, even when illnesses are chronic, debilitating, or otherwise untreatable. Tong Ren combines western knowledge of anatomy and physiology with the ancient principle of “chi,” or life force energy, to create what many consider to be a powerful new healing modality. Drawing on the Jungian theory of the “collective unconscious,” Tong Ren is believed to access energy from this universal source and direct it to the patient. Because no physical contact is involved or necessary, Tong Ren is often practiced as distance healing. In a typical therapy session, the Tong Ren practitioner uses a small human anatomical model as an energetic representation of the patient, tapping on targeted points on the model with a lightweight magnetic hammer. The practitioner directs chi to blockage points corresponding to the patient’s condition, breaking down resistance at these points. As blood flow, neural transmission, and hormone reception are restored, the body is then able to heal.
This empowerment will not make it possible for you to do Tong Ren, but I wanted you to know about in case you are interested in learning more about it.”
